Because of the complexity of the Webmaster role, WOW currently addresses three different levels of proficiency: the Apprentice Webmaster, Associate Webmaster, and the Professional Webmaster.
WOW Certified Apprentice Webmaster (CAW-apprentice): WOW Certified Webmaster Apprentices understand the basic breadth of web design, web development, and web site administration topics. Apprentice Webmasters are aware of the majority of subjects within the Associate Webmaster criteria, but with less depth into the individual topics.
WOW Certified Associate Webmaster (CAW): WOW Certified Webmaster Associates are proficient at blending the skill of standards-based and accessible HTML-coding with the visual arts to create sites that are content-rich, usable, accessible, secure, and visually pleasing. They are proficient at page layout, image creation and manipulation, interactivity, content creation, and project and business management.
WOW Certified Professional Webmaster (CPW): WOW Certified Professional Webmasters are responsible for all aspects of an organization’s web presence, including web content development, technical operations, and business management. Webmasters may have specific areas of expertise, but are most valuable as generalists who can
